Where to Buy a Kids Speedway Play Mat in Australia
Short answer: speedway-specific play mats are a small niche in Australia, so there are fewer options than a search for "kids car play mat" suggests. Here is the honest landscape, including where we fit.
The options
Speedway-specific mats
Genuinely rare. Beyond ourselves, the main alternative is vinyl track mats sold as a sideline by speedway parts retailers. Those are usually wipe-clean vinyl that rolls up — durable and inexpensive, but a hard surface rather than a cushioned one, so they are better suited to a garage or a clubroom than a lounge room floor.
General kids' car mats
Widely available from Australian toy retailers, marketplaces and rug brands, from about $25 up. Almost all use a town-and-road layout rather than a circuit. If the child in question likes cars generally, these are fine and cheap. If they specifically like racing, the layout matters more than the price does.
Premium padded play mats
Several excellent Australian brands make thick padded play mats, some with a road or track design on one side. If cushioning and looks are your priority and the racing theme is secondary, they are worth a look.
